Red House Painters are more of a definable rock band on Colorful, though, with fuzzed guitars, martial drumming, and more basic structures; on the slinky post-rock of "Japanese to English", you can imagine them in a practice space, jamming it out. Originally released on November 3, 2003, Ghosts of the Great Highway received superlative reviews, moved quickly to the #1 on college radio and has become one of singer-songwriter Mark Kozelek’s most loved and best-selling albums of his 14 year career. He impugns online “bitching and whining”, but hides behind one-way email exchanges, balks at the idea of his peers speaking about him and issues tirades (and sometimes, sexual advances) from the cowardly remove of the stage, with the get-out clause that it’s a performance. If anything remains to separate Kozelek from his work, it’s that his music preaches that the least we owe one another is decency.

In 2006, Kozelek was invited by Toronto indie rock label Paper Bag Records to exclusively contribute to their See You on the Moon! Songs for Kids of All Ages compilation with his original song "Leo and Luna." Then in November 2006, Kozelek released a live album titled Little Drummer Boy Live. Universal Themes was the 7th full length Sun Kil Moon Album, released in 2015.

It's great to have it in the box, though sonically, it would've made more sense to pair it with either Rollercoaser or Bridge. Patterns of behavior emerge across the accusations from both articles. Several women allege that Kozelek brought them to hotel rooms with assurances that he wouldn’t try anything sexual, then suddenly removed his clothes and made advances. Many of the women were Sun Kil Moon or Red House Painters fans who first met Kozelek while attending one of his shows. Journalist Martin Aston passed on a tape that Mark Eitzel had given to him. Never before or since had I received a demo that was 90 minutes long!
